With more and more publishers following the lead of Nintendo, its not surprising to see Ubisoft do the same. With the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo was able to bypass any need for a physical space. Instead, they stream the news to you, making it as compact and news-heavy as possible. It went well, to say the least, and then the pandemic hit and it just made sense. Now Ubisoft will feature an online showcase for upcoming titles; they’ve also released more on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
While Ubisoft hasn’t said what fans can look forward to, they have titled it in a news release as “Ubisoft Forward“. In the same release, it reads, “Save the Date! Join us July 12 [for] a fully digital showcase with exclusive game news, reveals and more.” After the Xbox Live event last week, Ubisoft will more than likely be showing actual gameplay from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. When you also consider other games in the works, like Watch Dogs Legion and Rainbow Six Quarantine, they should have enough to fill a show by themselves. Ubisoft has been sly lately, stating that they have a handful of AAA games set to release in the next year. The only specified game to not be in the showcase is Beyond Good and Evil 2. If you want to watch “Ubisoft Forward“, you can find on July 12th, 2020 at 12 PM Pacific Time.
As for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The new historical fiction game is now focused on Vikings, and a mission about Beowulf has been revealed. The Legend of Beowulf DLC mission will have players “discover the cruel truth” about the Norse hero. But you will only gain access to the extra mission if you purchase the Season Pass. It has also been revealed that Jesper Kyd, Sarah Schachner and Einar Selvik are composing music for the game. Why is this important? Well, Jesper worked on each AC soundtrack up to AC Revelations, and Schachner did work for AC’s Black Flag, Unity, and Origins. Rounding out the trifecta is Selvik, a former Norwegian black metal drummer who is now a Norse folk music revivalist.
Ubisoft has a lot of stuff to look forward to in the near future, and Ubisoft Forward is a good way to display that. While Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will more than likely overshadow any other reveals, there should be some surprises as well. If you want to keep up to date with Ubisoft, be sure to check out their online showcase on July 12th, 2020 at 12 PM Pacific Time.
