Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Invitational Set To Take Place In Paris

Ubisoft have announced that the 2021 edition of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Invitational will take place in Paris from February 9th, 2021 to February 21st, 2021. Following the news from Ubisoft late last year that the Six Invitational for 2021 would be going ahead, both the location and date of the competition have now been revealed to us.

For the first time in the competitions history, 20 teams will compete head to head for a capped prize pool of $3,000,000. with first place taking home 33.3% of the total winnings. This is opposed to the previous cap of 16 teams.

Along with the competition itself, Ubisoft have also mentioned that fans will be getting a glimpse to what will be in store for Year 6 of Rainbow Six Siege. The event will also host a range of developer panels along with appearances from various Rainbow Six Siege content creators.

With the event taking place during the current Covid-19 pandemic, Ubisoft reiterated that “the health and well-being of our pro players, staff, partners and fans is our top priority”.

All contestants will also be required to submit a negative PCR test 72 hours prior to arrival in France, along with a minimum 7 days of self-isolation being highly recommended by the event organizers. The event itself is to take place without any live audience but viewers will be able to tune in live via Twitch and YouTube.

Along with the extra restrictions, the global pandemic has ensured that this year’s Six Invitational will be the first cross-region competition since the previous Six Invitational in 2020. Teams will be split into two teams of ten and compete in the invitational’s Group Stage between February 9th and February 14th.

The top four teams of the Global Standings were split evenly between Group A & B, with Team BDS and Cloud 9 occupying Group A whilst TSM and Giants Gaming were drawn into Group B.

Throughout the Group Stage we’ll see 90 matches played in total, before the top eight teams from each group progress to the Playoffs scheduled from February 17th to February 21st. The Playoffs will consist of a double elimination bracket and all matches will be best-of-three.

Teams who finished in the top 4 of their Groups will have a distinct advantage come The Grand Final. This consists of a best-of-five match with upper bracket teams from Group A and B having a map advantage and unlimited overtime.

Coinciding with the main event, the Six Invitational will also contain a Show match on the final day of the event, where various creators in the Rainbow Six Siege community will battle it out for a charity prize of $50,000.

This years Six Invitational also sees the addition of a new Twitch Drop program for both Rainbow Six Siege streamers and viewers. Between the 21st January and the 21st February viewers will have the opportunity to acquire a wide variety of in game cosmetics, packs and other goodies.
