Halo 3: ODST Is Dropping Onto PC

Are you excited for Halo Infinite? Did the preview of the next Halo game leave you wanting to go to back to the Halo universe? Well, with it’s postponement, Master Chief’s next foray won’t be playable until at least next year. So what does one do in the meantime?

Sure, you could play any other first-person shooter out there, but it won’t have the same feeling. But maybe you are already bored with Halo: Master Chief Collection, having done all you care to in that set. Microsoft has you covered– Halo 3: ODST is dropping onto PC via Halo: Master Chief Collection.

The game originally launched in 2009 for the Xbox 360. Unlike all earlier titles, the game does not have Master Chief as its protagonist. Instead, it focuses the story on Orbital Drop Shock Troopers.

The game will include both the campaign and Firefight, a wave-based survival mode, which will have online matchmaking, dedicated servers, and new custom game modes. This version is solely for the PC, with an update for those who own it on Xbox One. It will also be available free of charge for those who have Xbox Game Pass. 343 Industries has stated that they also plan on bringing Halo 4 to PC in the near future.

Arriving on September 22nd, 2020, the full game will reach PC, with Firefight finally making it to consoles. 343 Industries used their Twitter to gather hype, telling followers to “suit up, strap in, and prepare to return to New Mombassa.”

The developers have also hinted at plans for the future. They want to bring cross-play, keyboard and mouse support for Xbox, and input-based matchmaking. They plan to have those features added by the end of the year. If you missed this side-story in the Halo arc, now would be a great time to catch up since Halo 3: ODST is dropping onto PC.
