After the small tease on Twitter the other day, fans have been speculating about the the 5th and final character for fighting pass one. Most assumed it would be either Sora from Kingdom Hearts, or Dante from Devil May Cry. It turns out the speculation was wrong. The newest character was in fact Fire Emblem Three Houses main character, Byleth. Not just one version, but both the male and female versions.
Fire Emblem Three Houses was arguably one of the most successful Fire Emblem game ever in the west. Introducing many brand new players to the Fire Emblem franchise for the first time, Three Houses provided hundreds of hours gameplay across its many routes. Featuring many characters that players can bond with, the game offered many choices to help customise the players journey.
Fire Emblem is no stranger to Super Smash Bros. Ever since Marth joining the game, there have been Roy, Ike, Chrom and Robin, just to name a few. Whilst another Fire Emblem character in Smash Bros. is sure to ruffle some feathers, it’ll no doubt be an interesting addition and not just the usual sword based character.
Along with the character reveal, the new map and music were also revealed. The new map was of course the Garreg Mach Monastery, the main area that Fire Emblem Three Houses takes place in. The stage cycles through different areas of the Monastery throughout gameplay.
Each of these areas also features some guest characters too. These areas and guest appearances are as follows. The Marketplace and the Blue Lion house, featuring Dedue, Dimitri and Ingrid. The Reception Hall and the Black Eagles house, featuring Edelgard, Dorothea and Petra. The Bridge and the Golden Deer house. featuring Claude, Hilda and Lorenz. Finally, the Cathedral and The Church, featuring Seteth, Rhea and Flayn.
As far as songs go, there are 11 new songs. This is including 2 new arrangements. The new spirits include the House leaders and other popular characters. There are also Mii fighter costumes being added. Assassins Creed joins the fight in the form of a Mii fighter. New Megaman costumes join the fight too, but most interestingly, so does Cuphead. The Cuphead Mii fighter also includes a special music track too.
That’s not all though. Sakurai also revealed the next fighters pass. He announced the 2nd fighters pass will include 6 new fighters this time, not 5. He also mentioned that the characters for this second fighting pass have already been chosen, so requests online for fighters simply won’t make a difference.
Byleth will join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster on January 28th, 2020. For more gaming news you can keep up to date at Informed Pixel. Want to speak to the team and interact with other gamers?
